Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine
<p>The AMG-developed biturbo V8 is engineered for a modern era of performance, generating 469 hp from just 4.0 litres. Its 516-lb-ft torque peak arrives at just 2,250 rpm, and persists to 4,500 rpm, to rocket you to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds on the way to a 295-km/h top track speed. SL-specific enhancements include active crankcase ventilation, repositioned intercoolers and higher boost. Yet even with its advanced technologies, each AMG engine is still hand-built and signed by its own craftsman.</p>
AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive
<p>The first SL with all-wheel drive, its 4MATIC system can instantly vary the front-to-rear torque split in precise response to driving conditions and driver inputs, including 100% rear-wheel drive. An electromechanical coupling between the front and rear axles is controlled based on an elaborate matrix of driving mode, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, and available grip to optimize handling and acceleration right up to the physical limits, on virtually any road or track surface.</p>
AMG RIDE CONTROL
<p>The AMG RIDE CONTROL Sport Suspension features electronically controlled 3-stage adaptive damping. It instantly varies the suspension characteristics to the driving situation, to help reduce body roll, pitch and dive while maximizing agility and tire contact. Three modes are selectable via AMG DYNAMIC SELECT or a separate pushbutton control: Comfort, Sport and Sport+ adapt the damping rates at progressively lower thresholds of wheel motion, lateral g-forces and driving speed.</p>
3rd Generation Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)
<p>A breakthrough in automobile cockpit control, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience is further enhanced in the SL. MBUX integrates digital in-dash displays including a touchscreen, touch-sensitive controls, Bluetooth® hands-free and audio streaming, and an industry-advancing voice control system that responds to your everyday speaking voice and phrasing of commands. You can set up multiple user profiles of favoured settings, and groups of settings can be saved as themes or moods.</p>
Burmester Surround Sound system
<p>One of the most respected makers of handcrafted high-end home audio, Germany's Burmester® has developed a surround-sound system that's specifically tailored to the SL. With 11 high-quality speakers including a subwoofer and a 650-watt, 12-channel digital amplifier, the system can fill the cabin with pure surround sound while seamlessly compensating for ambient noise. Exquisitely detailed aluminum speaker grilles are as rewarding to the eyes as the system's output is to the most discerning ears.</p>
