Plug-In Hybrid technology
<p>Advanced 4th-gen Plug-In Hybrid technology delivers numerous electric-car benefits while retaining the convenience of a gasoline engine. The compact electric motor can deliver a substantial boost in power and torque, or let you drive up to 87 km on battery power alone. Charging can come from the gas engine and regenerative braking, or plug it into an ordinary AC outlet to go from 10 percent to fully charged in under 3 hours. Available 60kW DC charging can go from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes.</p>

Always engaged and optimizing torque to every wheel, 4MATIC integrates with ESP, our standard Electronic Stability Program, for maximum effectiveness in corners and slippery conditions. It also incorporates our 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS), which monitors for the first sign of wheel slip and responds to ensure torque is sent to the wheels with the best grip, even if that's only one wheel.</p>
Active Lane Change Assist
<p>When cruising with DISTRONIC engaged, this innovation allows the driver to execute a lane change simply by activating a turn signal for a sufficient number of seconds. The system is designed to sense when you're travelling on a multilane highway, and whether the area across the dashed lane marking is clear for a lane-change, then precisely steer into the adjacent lane.</p>
